CHAPTER 3
All the teams were using the same plan of attack, and at precisely 1700 the four-man sniper teams shot the sentries, and moved in to plant their charges.
JDâs team was in New Mexico, and when they finished planting the C4, and programming the time-delayed detonators, JD ordered, âAll right, men, letâs mount up.
âSlide over, Iâm going to drive,â JD instructed.
JD was really pushing it, and as the SUV roared down the narrow two-lane road, his mind flashed back to his days of driving for Rex Allen, and he wished heâd gotten to see him one last time before heâd been murdered.

âWHATâS GOING ON with the power?â General Sung asked.
âAt first we thought it was just a power failure,â Major Ma explained. âUntil a hacker posted a claim from some militia group taking credit for it. Theyâve challenged the American public to stand with them to drive the Chinese forces from American soil.â
âThe fools! Find out who did it, and kill them all.â

THE NEXT DAY, JD was sitting with William Sheldon, watching the six oâclock news, when they broke in with a news bulletin.
âWeâre now taking you live to the Phoenix area, where rioting has broken out. This is Harry Fossey, reporting live from the Channel 14 news copter. Weâre approaching the scene of the riot, and the smoke youâre seeing is from a combination of burning buildings, and vehicles.â
Harry paused to listen to a new message on his headset. âWeâre now going to Sally Prentice, on location in the Channel 14 news van.â
âThis is Sally Prentice, reporting live from the Intersection of Grand Avenue and West Glendale Avenue. Sir, can I have your name and a description of what you saw?â
âIâm Hank Skinner, and Iâll go you one better, Iâve got a video of it.â
âBilly, could you upload this to your laptop so we can show it to the viewers?â Sally requested.
âSure, boss, give me just a minute.â
âWhile Billy is doing that, would you recount what weâre about to see?â
âSure. I was standing here watching the demonstration, when the UN troops forced one of the low riders in the parade to stop.â
âSo they were causing issues?â
âNot really. They were honking their horns, and yelling, but they werenât causing any problems.â
âIâve got the video,â the video tech interrupted.
âThank you, and now weâll show what just took place.â
As the low-resolution video played out, the viewers could see the first cars roll by. Even though the temperature had again soared to 115, and most of the city was still without electricity, the mood of the participants seemed lighthearted. When the first of the gang membersâ convertibles passed by, one of the Chinese soldiers stepped in front of it. They could see that he was yelling something, but they couldnât make it out. When he started pounding on the hood, one of the men shot him in the face. Mortally wounded, the soldier fell to the pavement. The next thing they heard was the Chinese commander yell, âKill those animals.
